Karma, memory, and desire are just the software of the soul. It's conditioning that the soul undergoes in order to create experience. And it's a cycle. In most people, the cycle is a conditioned response. They do the same things over and over again. Deepak Chopra
I only fear being average; this fear has motivated me to make sure I never become average. I still don’t understand how some people are so comfortable with being average. Out of the seven billion people on earth, not a single one of them will have the same experiences in life that I have had, none of them share the exact same passions, interest, beliefs, hobbies, values, and struggles. None of them will ever live my life. We are very unique in our own ways, and we each have something unique to offer this world.
Most of us come to this world as immediate victims of Social conditioning: the process of training individuals in society to have certain beliefs, behaviors, desires, and emotional reactions which are approved by society in general or by certain groups within it. Systems have been perfected to achieve just that because once you are conditioned, you are easier to control. Every day, we are exposed to things that are aimed at conditioning us in one way or another; be it television, newspapers, schools, billboards, churches and almost everything around us .Unless you teach yourself to think outside the box and examine the other side of the coin critically, then you are at risk of becoming an average person and never leaving your mark in this world.
The fact that I have been living in a society that exposes me to its propaganda on several occasions makes it totally false to state that I haven’t occasionally been a victim of conditioning. With this mindset, I have developed a habit of questioning everything I do, feel, or think as much as I can. At time I find myself to be okay and at other times I find myself doing , thinking, and feeling the same way as victims of social conditioning, but I am able to correct myself from the effect of it. Rational and critical thinking enables me to pinpoint false beliefs, ineffective behaviors, desires, or feelings that are common in average people.
Another way I try to steer away from social conditioning is by stepping out of my bubble. We all have an inclination to only associate with those who seem to like us or those who share the same opinions as we do, this inclination is useful, but once in a while I step out of my bubble and interact with those who are opposite of me and try to understand their reasoning. By understanding their world, I am able to evaluate mine.
In all honesty, it takes heart and courage to steer away from conditioning because we are constantly exposed to it. But we have the power to believe in our dreams, to make choices that will enable us to fulfill them despite the opposition. We all have two choices to either be average and fit perfectly into society, or you can rise above the average, leave your mark, and watch your dreams come true.
The choice is yours, my friend.
